I made this for my dad for Christmas. It's never fun to be broke at Christmas, but it really wasn't fun being broke at the last minute at Christmas. Didn't have time to do a whole lot of handmade gifts. Oh well. I love this design and plan on doing more. I didn't follow a pattern, made it up, but I doubt it's anything new. I got the inspiration from a scarf http://yarnbunny.com/YB/Home.html did. I'm kicking myself that I can't link that. Or can I? Eh, I can't be bothered.

Hand made Christmas
I think the best gifts are hand made. But I'll admit, it is a LOT of time and effort. But I did manage to make a few hand made gifts for some this year. But I was just thinking, I only got a picture of one!!! Double-you-tee-eff mate?! I've been trying to keep track of my work, yet I forget to get pictures of several gifts? Mommy brain. Speaking of, I cannot wait to be able to craft more again. Little D is mobile so she is starting to let mommy crochet but she then remembers mommy isn't RIGHT THERE and gets upset. I have so many projects I want to do...
Oh well. Hope everyone had a happy Christmas. I leave you with a photo of the skunk hat I made for my brother.

Mistakes
Ever make a mistake? Of course, everyone makes mistakes. But being a perfectionist with crafting means when I make a mistake it kills me. With this one I had to frog back about 4 rows. Not fun. But I can't wait to finish this one!!!

UFOs
I am horrible about finishing projects for me. If I have a deadline, like say for yesterday's baby shower, I tend to finish the night before. Even though I began that blanket weeks ago, I was weaving in the ends at 3 AM the morning of the shower. And when it comes to a project for me, it sits as a UFO (unfinished object) for a long time. I couldn't even tell you the number of projects I started that sitting in the yarn tote, unfinished and more than likely doomed to one day be frogged for another project that may or may not be doomed to lay unfinished as well. I am getting better though. I seem to be finishing more projects lately. What unfinished object do you feel bad about leaving behind or swear you will one day go back to? Mine is my Magnum Opus, The Doctor Who Scarf! I got burned out on knitting and set it aside for another day. Honestly that wasn't long after I made a post here about it. I will one day return to it, but crocheting is never far from the brain at the moment. After I finish one more baby blanket I am returning to this blue and green afghan. It'll be large.

Life is too short to weave in ends
Ugh, that is the only thing I hate about yarn craft. I despise weaving in the ends, whether I do it along the way or after I've finished the good bit. Here I am weaving in the ends at 3:30 AM because I have forgotten to do so and I am giving this blanket at a shower in the morning. Oh, did I mention I am doing this by lantern light while my kids sleep next to me because we're camping? Is it a crime if I just cut the ends off? How do you deal with the loose ends?

Crocheted armadillo
I made an armadillo for a friend's daughter's birthday this past weekend. It was so cute! I used this pattern (Ravelry download) and Lily Sugar and Cream cotton yarn in Ecru and Mod Pink. (post from august that didn't go through)
