Hand made Christmas

I think the best gifts are hand made. But I'll admit, it is a LOT of time and effort. But I did manage to make a few hand made gifts for some this year. But I was just thinking, I only got a picture of one!!! Double-you-tee-eff mate?! I've been trying to keep track of my work, yet I forget to get pictures of several gifts? Mommy brain. Speaking of, I cannot wait to be able to craft more again. Little D is mobile so she is starting to let mommy crochet but she then remembers mommy isn't RIGHT THERE and gets upset. I have so many projects I want to do...

Oh well. Hope everyone had a happy Christmas. I leave you with a photo of the skunk hat I made for my brother.

Mistakes

Ever make a mistake? Of course, everyone makes mistakes. But being a perfectionist with crafting means when I make a mistake it kills me. With this one I had to frog back about 4 rows. Not fun. But I can't wait to finish this one!!!

UFOs

I am horrible about finishing projects for me. If I have a deadline, like say for yesterday's baby shower, I tend to finish the night before. Even though I began that blanket weeks ago, I was weaving in the ends at 3 AM the morning of the shower. And when it comes to a project for me, it sits as a UFO (unfinished object) for a long time. I couldn't even tell you the number of projects I started that sitting in the yarn tote, unfinished and more than likely doomed to one day be frogged for another project that may or may not be doomed to lay unfinished as well. I am getting better though. I seem to be finishing more projects lately. What unfinished object do you feel bad about leaving behind or swear you will one day go back to? Mine is my Magnum Opus, The Doctor Who Scarf! I got burned out on knitting and set it aside for another day. Honestly that wasn't long after I made a post here about it. I will one day return to it, but crocheting is never far from the brain at the moment. After I finish one more baby blanket I am returning to this blue and green afghan. It'll be large.

Life is too short to weave in ends

Ugh, that is the only thing I hate about yarn craft. I despise weaving in the ends, whether I do it along the way or after I've finished the good bit. Here I am weaving in the ends at 3:30 AM because I have forgotten to do so and I am giving this blanket at a shower in the morning. Oh, did I mention I am doing this by lantern light while my kids sleep next to me because we're camping? Is it a crime if I just cut the ends off? How do you deal with the loose ends?

Crocheted armadillo

I made an armadillo for a friend's daughter's birthday this past weekend. It was so cute! I used this pattern (Ravelry download) and Lily Sugar and Cream cotton yarn in Ecru and Mod Pink. (post from august that didn't go through)

Etsy

I have been working on things to sell in the etsy shop. I will not have anything in there until Friday or Saturday but things that will be for sale will be hemp jewelry, yarn jewelry, crocheted/knitted items like toys (kids and pets) and hats/scarves, and paintings. I am quite the hobby whore, I know. It is just getting the time for these things that is the trouble. Two young children have me run ragged but I am sure things will get easier and I will have time for making things for the shop. Right now all I really have time for is wish bracelets/anklets since they only take a few minutes to make. So look for those things soon. Buying from my shop will help us to get back on our feet post-tornado. Thank you :) BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. Sorry!

I apologize for the lack of posts as of late. I gave birth to my second child recently and the tornadoes that hit the south east on April 27 displaced my family. I am only just now getting to where I can work on projects again. I have opened my etsy shop but have yet to add any of my items for sale. Just finished the photography for some items and will have them on soon. No crocheted or knitted item to place as of yet. Just jewelry. :) I will be getting things done soon, I promise! I thought having a second child would only double my workload but it seems to have tripled it ;)
Love to all!!!

My Magnum Opus

Ah, one must love the ease of actual computers instead of using the phone as main internet connection. Here is my Magnum Opus, The Doctor Who Scarf!!! I am using Cascade 22o and Witty Little Knitter for the pattern. I actually as of this moment have more of the red done, but this picture was taken a couple days ago when I originally tried to make this post. I am looking forward to finishing it one day. I call it my Magnum Opus because it is my biggest project. You can see from my progress meter on the side that at this point I am only about 8.5 % into it with only about 90 rows done. I will keep my currently non-existent readers up to date with my progress on this great project with future posts and pictures. Until next time, I am merely comfortable...

Crochet a Rainbow!

I am going to participate in the Crochet a Rainbow project for the victims of the floods of Australia. Crochet a Rainbow

I am good at granny squares but rubbish at stitching them together. I also have a lot of acrylic yarn I probably won't do a thing with so this will be a good stash buster.

On a different note, I have not been able to upload photos from my iPhone to here so I haven't been able to make the posts I want to. Like my magnum opus, the Doctor Who Scarf! And my various baby blankets, hats, and scarves, finished and unfinished. Now that I have a laptop I can do some posts soon, just have to go to my mom's for the wifi :) BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. And welcome. Things to come, I promise. Have to get set up in my new abode and my new laptop...
